Leah that is a really great point! In the past I have definitely fallen habit to over-thinking my words and, as a result, losing the energy of the conversation. It is definitely important to let spontaneity take over to some degree - or else we may just seem like a calculating robot.

Also, something else I forgot to add: using less words that convey the same meaning usually offers a bigger punch than when we are verbose.

I do definitely believe words should be chosen carefully and with heartful intention, but its good to atrike a balance between spontaneity and self-control.

It can be stifling and overly self-conscious (to me at least) to choose one's words so carefully. I try to be conscientious of what I say but not get too obsessed with the possible interpretations it could have. One must breathe and remember that all is good, and the words being spoken are worthy as long as they are based in love.

A benefit of practicing conscientious speech may be that eventually it comes naturally. This naturalness can in turn bring back that true value of the spontaneity. Its all an art and at the same time, completely intuitive and cyclical

Hi Steven.

Good call about remembering who we are conversing with. Sometimes I don't take the time to think about and remember the traits of the person I am about to speak to, and so there is some discord in the conversation until I get back into an understanding mode. Thinking before starting, and then using fitting words and attitude, can save some conversations from going into a negative territory for no reason.

On the point about reflecting back on words, it is rare that I do this, but I can see the value you are talking about here. You see what you said that triggered another person. I have read chats I had with someone back to myself hours later, and realized a lot more about how I was communicating at the time. It is always worth it to analyze ourselves in the past through text, audio, or video.

Words make or break a lot.

Ive been really trying recently to think before I speak and be aware of the words I've been using.

"The words we attach to our experience become our experience"
-Anthony Robbins

And Ive found that the more positive words I use, my life has just naturally become more positive!

Insightful Post!
