#3 and #6 are both good points I think. Sometimes sitting in the same spot, day-in and day-out, leaves you feeling a bit dull and uninspired (at least for me it does.) Sprucing that up a bit sort of adds some new perspective to what you're doing... and can even make "work" feel a bit more exciting!

And of course, joining a group, especially one that involves something you believe strongly in, is a great way to meet new people. Having been a vegetarian for some time now, I find that joining vegetarian groups in the larger metropolitan areas near my neighborhood serve as a great way to get in touch with likeminded people!

Loved this post: my challenge to myself this year is to take on the challenge of getting more organized both inside and outside our home. We have a small living space, so organizing is a must! I also like the point of helping someone in need. There is nothing to get us out of ourselves like giving generously.

Want to go way up?
How about going skydiving in order to raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital?
Not only would you be pushing your personal limits but you would be helping kids in need and help support the hospital maintain the state of the art care that they provide for their patients. Sounds like a win/win!
Take a glance at the site, http://www.gosh.org/get-involved/challenge-events/jump/ , for more information!
Cheers!

Hi Steven.

Good call about adding in action items. Logic puzzles fit in well here, as they activate your brain like very few things do.

Cooking for someone is a cool idea. I remember having made a pumpkin pie with a friend and sharing it with a couple other friends at one time, and it was a wonderful thing. You learn how to make food, and then you're giving people the food you made.

I think my logic puzzle example would fit into the item there about challenging ourselves.

The quote at the beginning reminds us to know that only doing writing, and doing writing in place of action, is bad.

As I recently witnessed, this list is spot-on. However, none of these ideas may be enough for a depressed person. So my helpful addition is this: if you wish you could do, but you can't quite get around to doing, two or three of these things then consider asking a doctor whether you need help getting started on your new growth.
