Emotional labor is the idea that employees are often expected to display the right emotions to properly perform their jobs. The cashier or waitress is expected to smile at you and say, “Have a good day!” even when they aren’t in a good mood.

The “broaden and build theory” is an idea in psychology that positive emotions allow us to expand our awareness in new ways and tap into mental resources that aren’t always available to us.
A healthy and positive attitude to have in life is “leave it better than you found it.” It can apply to almost anything too, whether it’s a relationship we’re involved in, a business we work for, the home we live in, or just how we treat nature and the environment. The idea is based on (more…)
